I have been wanting to make some of these felt flowers for my bedroom in silver or grey but needed something over my mantle for Christmas so here they are. So easy! I plan to post a tutorial soon.

My Mantle! I finally have stocking hangers of my own. I have sold hundreds of them but never seemed to find time to get the ones I want on my mantle. Now lets see if I can get pictures in them before the season is over.

Thank you again Pinterest for my Pallet Project inspiration. I have more pallet projects coming soon.
I don't have step by step pictures but here are the steps:
1. Two pallets similar size, sand them down and clean up.
2. screw them together
3. Add casters (I am prob. going to change the casters on mine to some with a break)
4. Dry brush color
4. I chose to paint the french motif on the top - I downloaded my graphic from The Graphic Fairy
5. Antique with glaze and stain

Making a house a home and Bower Power

I DID IT! My version of the Suitcase Chair. Thank you Pinterest for the inspiration!!

This was a figure it out as I go project. A little tricky, very time consuming but so FUN.

Cut a piece of MDF and glued to bottom of suitcase. This gave more stability to my legs.

Legs screwed in.

My suitcase opened all the way up so I had to suport the back at an angle. I used a metal piece I purchased from home depot and covered in burlap. There are probably many ways to do this and I am not sure if this is the best, but it worked.

Edited: Added picture of metal before I covered it.

Two pieces of foam covered in batting and then my fabric for the seat. For my fabric I purchased a canvas painters tarp at home depot for $4.00

Glued a piece of MDF to the bottom of my cusion (after I tufted with covered buttons). I am no expert at tufting I just googled it to figure it out.

My suitcase already had the gold metal pieces so it made it a perfect spot to sit the MDF board that my cushion was glued to.

Top cusion was one piece of foam wrapped in batting (I used twine to keep my fabric tight on the back).

So here it is at this stage.

Added fabric to form a large flower on the back.

Painted and glazed the legs.

There it is!

Super Hero's Save Mommy's Day

Here is an under $5 "save your day" summer activity.

Daddy's under shirt Super Hero Cape!

Introducing Super Man Marshall and Green Lantern Cooper.

It's So Easy. Cut out the entire front of daddy's under shirt including the sleeves BUT leave the neck part. That is what they will slip over their head.

Using felt cut out the logo of the super hero your child wants to be.

Use the left over "front of t-shirt" to cut a long strip to use as the mask.

Use left over felt as arm bands.

Tip: I used a hot glue gun opposed to fabric glue because I needed these done quickly and the fabric glue would take too long to dry.

Double Stack Funky Frame and More

Double stack funky frame as a Mirror - so cute, so unique and FABULOUS! My pictures did not turn out very well. Hanging in the pool bath.

The next two photos are of some custom cornice boards I did for a client but......all I see when I look at this is the awesome painting of her son hanging on the wall. Shreveport, LA artist Erinn Buteau paints these from a photograph. I am going to get her contact info. to post here. I will also post more of her work. What an awesome keepsake.

Few more projects around my moms house.

Painted buffett in kitchen. This is a realy pretty antique buffett. It was lovely stained but her kitchen needed some color and there was way too much "stained stuff" in there. So My sister and I went to work.

Frames I finished way back for a Shreveport customer. Raised chunky moulding in vintage white, champagne gold and glorious gold.

My brother and I's wedding pictures framed on my moms wall. We needed to add my sisters picture and decided to change all the frames.

Kitchen stool needed a little lovin - Ha Ha

Recovered and goes much better.

Wicker chair in garden room. Color was bad and cushion color needed updating. See below. Recovered cushion, added black buttons and painted chair black.

My kids love taking swim lessons with Sara Beth in Benton. If anyone is looking for an awesome swim teacher let me know. She does them at her house in Benton. My 3 year old was swimming by himself after 2 lessons.

Vacation Day 1&2

I am on VACATION!! For now the kids and I are hanging out in Bossier for a few days and then we will all head to the beach!!! My mom has been really neglected as far as projects I wanted to do for her so this is her week. Below are pictures of what we have done so far. More to come!!
Painted an old bakers rack with grey and white dry brush and rearranged items she already had.

Finished distressed chairs. I found this awesome box in my parents garage (it was my brothers toy box when he was little). Two things are funny about that. 1. It is a beer box and 2. Did all his toys really fit in that......times have changed. My boys have a whole room for toys :-)

Large birdcage filled with random finds around my moms house. My mom came up with the "out of the box" idea to put a lamp in it. Love IT!

For the frame around the wall cherub I took an old Kirklands picture, took out picture and glass and dry brushed the frame with antique white. Spruced up a previously black bakers rack with grey and antique white.

Painted the iron wall hanging in aqua blue to match the new Adirondack chairs.

Mom and I finished 6 Adirondack chairs!

Introducing the New..........

ROUND FRAME (but I want a diffrent name for it) 20 inch diameter inside, 36 inch diameter outside. Holds a 20x20 photo. Shown in black with bronze trim

Here is the trick! The back of the frame is set up to hold a square photo. I looked and looked, and it is really hard to find a professional photo lab that will print circle prints. All labs as well as my personal favorite www.mpix.com (for us non-professional photographers) will print in squares.

So, back from vacation. Here is a pic while we were zip linning in Puerta Vallarta.

I have approximately 200 more frames to ship out the door before I will be able to breathe. When I say breathe I actually mean get to work on all the creative projects that have been floating in my head since December. My bedroom makeover was put on hold when "The Sworm" (that's what I am going to refer to my first showcase at Dallas Market) came and took over my life, garage, home office, paint room , entry way and anywhere else I could stash a frame without my husband killing me.

Not Complaining.....SO BLESSED!!!

Here is a sneak peak of a project I will try to squeeze in next weekend (only if 10 orders get shipped this week - my goal). Just imagine what I will turn a pair of raw wood adirondack chairs into for our new extended covered patio.

Here is a Sneak Peak that I really should not show yet because it is still raw wood, but I can't help myself. Hoping to get it painted and beautiful by the weekend. What is it you ask.....a brand new large frame design. Look for a contest coming to soon to name this new beauty.

Spring Furniture Classes

Here are the dates for the Spring Furniture Classes

Shreveport: Saturday, March 5th 11am
McKinney: Saturday, March 19th 11am

10 participants MAX

I will provide all supplies you provide a small to medium piece of furniture to finish. You will go home with a finished piece of furniture. I will teach you many techniques including; glazing, striping, metallic, gilding, plaster and distressing. The classes this spring will incorporate metallic plastering and stenciling.

Class is $85 per participant. $35 deposit is due to reserve your spot (I will not add you to the list until the deposit is paid). Pay deposit by clicking on "pay now" on the right side of my blog.

Let me know if you have any questions. Once the class is full I will start a waiting list.

If you do not already have a piece of furniture here are a few tips as to where to find one: goodwill in Bossier (airline dr.), goodwill in east McKinney has a great selection every time I go, garage sales (that is where you will get the best price) Craigslist (most unique items I have found there). I have found several FREE pieces of furniture listed on craigslist.

DIY Curtain Panels

Be Bold.....create your own painted curtain panels.

Painters canvas tarp from Wal-mart (home depot has them too) $8.00

Cut down the center long ways

Measure and mark for stripes to be 7 inches apart. Use painters tape of masking tape to mark off you stripe.

Use fabric paint in any color to paint every other stripe. (I actually used black craft paint because I did not have fabric paint but I am suppose to tell you the proper way and that would be with fabric paint)

I purchased this skinney 84 inch rod from wal-mart for $11 and the ring hooks were $5.00 per pack and I needed two packs.

Total cost for two panels $24.00

Morning class: 8:30am
Afternoon class: 1:00pm

If you attended the previous furniture class your price will stay the same at $69.00

Furniture refinishing has quickly become my addiction! I love the endless possibilities available when painting furniture. I am knowledgeable in many different finishes, old world antiquing, rustic distress, shiny solid finish, stripes, dots, stenciled flourishes, etc.

You provide the furniture piece. Something fairly small so we can complete in one day. End table, coffee table, accent chairs, small bench, trunk, small dresser, etc. We will not have time to finish full breakfast tables and chairs or full size dressers or armoire.

I will provide everything else you need.

How to register:
E-mail me ASAP your name and phone number. I will send you an invoice and you can pay online or send me a check. Your space is not saved until I receive the full payment for the class. That is the only fair way to do it. If The Saturday class fills up and I have at least 4 people on the waiting list I will offer a Sunday class as well.

If you don't already have a piece of furniture that could use a makeover I suggest goodwill, garage sales and craigslist. It does not need to have character....we will add that!

I finally found my camera cord! It was under a mound of toys upstairs in the playroom. Hmmmm, wonder how it got there. Marshall is the sneaky one so I blame him :-)

I don't think I have posted pictures in almost a month so here goes.

Silver, gold and bronze faux metal frame. Available in any size and any metallic finish.

I had a wild hair and made a ton of burlap pillows. I have a 9 foot church pew that I am in the process of refinishing and most of these will go on there. Let me know if you are interested in some custom burlap pillows. Any design, word, saying, verse, monogram, etc. in black or brown. Burlap is available in light and dark.

Dining room table refinish. Here is the table top before and below is what the chairs look like before.

Large horse painting. I originally was making this for a western kids room but ended up loving it in my kitchen. Painting is 32x32 and is done on plank boards. I can do a variety of diffrent designs.

The next set of before/after pictures are wooden cornice boards from my friends house. These are original cornice boards from the house that was built in the 50's. If you are interested in custom cornice boards I have a fabulous carpenter who can build them.

I have no idea what happened to my website but it has vanished somewhere in cyperspace. I am still here and working away and will try to get that up again as soon as possible.

I have also misplaced my camera cord and am unable to download photos of the furniture and fireplaces I have recently completed. Planning to order a new cord this week so look for pictures to be up by the weekend.

Distressed Handpainted Furniture

This table below was a stained table from the late 70's early 80's. I refinished it with an aqua blue color, faux copper tile top, lots of aging and distress and added some nail head for additional character.

I LOVE new projects! My current addiction is refinishing furniture. Do you have an old piece that could use a makeover? Take a picture (cell phone pic is fine) sent it to me and I will give you a quote. If you don't have a piece of furniture but you want something to make a statement, go look at goodwill or hit up garage sales.

New Products!!

I recently purchased a vinyl cutter mainly to use on my frames and make stencils for faux finishing furniture, walls and other projects. I don't plan to have a big vinyl cutting business for wall graphics but.....I just can't help it! I am so excited about all the endless possibilities with this machine so I must share.

Place an order for vinyl wall words between now and January 30th (Extended until Monday, February 8th) and pay $5.00 per small item (10inches x 10 inches or smaller), $10 for medium size items (16 inches x 16 inches) and $15 for large items. I can cut up to 24 inches one way and as long as you would want - up to 10 yards. Colors I have in stock for the promotion special are Black, Dark brown, light brown (tan) and white. ***This is a great deal*** Especially for the some of the detailed fonts I have listed below.

I am in the process of putting this on a wall in my house (pictures to follow). This is a very detailed font and does take patience and time to place on your wall, mirror or wherever you would want to stick it.

Font examples for single letter monogram, three letter monogram and names. I have hundreds of fonts. I will be glad to send you a few proofs in different fonts.

Family name crest. Available in any size up to 24 inches.

I used this crest for the back splash in my kitchen.

If you are unfamiliar with vinyl wall words it is basically a sticker that can be stuck on almost any surface. I will include detailed application instructions with each order. It does not stick very well to heavily textured walls - especially if it is a gloss or high gloss paint.

Wow! What a season. I am worn out. I plan to take a short break for the first two weeks in January. Go ahead and place your order then but just know that I won't get started until around January 15th or so. After the last few crazy months of frame making my office, paint room and garage need cleaning.

This is over my mantle in my new house. I must note that my mantle needs some serious faux finishing and decorating before I am happy with it but here is my focal point in the room and yes, the frame is orange!! This house was a spec home being built and so everything is tan.....I can't stand how boring it is. I purchased the dot pillow on the floor at target and decided to use that as my inspiration piece. I will post more pictures once my mantle is complete. Although almost every photo looks great in a black frame don't be afraid to go BOLD!

I don't think I ever posted this and was too tired to go back and look. This is the black chunk on 5 1/2 inch frame with inside gold trim.

A Couple of New Things

I now have orange and off white ribbon. I only bought 2 rolls of orange ribbon and I'm not sure if I will order more. If you want a frame for fall pics, pumpkin patch pics or halloween pics let me know ASAP. $55 for small 5x7 and $65 for the large 5x7
Frame can be done in any color.

Here is something new! I am calling it beadboard moulding. I can paint the moulding in any color combination that you would like from 2 - 4 diffrent colors. This frame is in XL 11x14 and the moulding colors are harvest, sage green and mustard. I am working on one with orange (new color!) deep red, harvest and green.

Available in any color, I will post more samples next week. These are great for a hallway, hanging along with som of my larger frames, over a changing table or crib - use your imagination. Keep in mind these frames are only 2 1/2 inches wide so unless you have a small space these look better hanging in a group.
